Week 3 Challenge Recap – Grinding Through the Variance

Week 3 of the Fish & Chips Poker $0–$5K Challenge

Another week in the books. More live sessions, a few key hands, and steady progress toward the goal. This update breaks down the wins, losses, and lessons from Week 3—plus what’s next as the challenge rolls on.

If you’re following the series, don’t miss Table Tactic Tuesdays, where I break down real live-game exploits and weekly strategy tips you can apply at the table. Then on Fridays, check out Hand of the Week for detailed hand reviews straight from my own sessions—spots that test discipline, aggression, and decision-making under pressure.

Follow the journey, track real bankroll growth, and see how disciplined play turns patience into profit.

Week three wrapped up after a hectic stretch, but I still managed to log more hours than last week. Friday night could’ve been a breakout session if not for that painful two-outer, but that’s the game. Wednesday’s cash table was ice cold, so I jumped into the nightly tournament instead. The deck didn’t exactly heat up, but I fought through and snagged 4th place for $500 on a $100 buy-in. Solid ROI for a slow week.

The plan moving forward is to stay locked on the Friday and Saturday night games—they’re simply too profitable to skip.

Weekly Numbers

  • Weekly goal: $420

  • Week 3 total profit: $1,056 (target was $1,260)

  • Total hours: 44

  • Hourly rate: $24/hour (just shy of the $25/hr target)

A few key hands go differently and I’m well ahead of pace. Variance happens. The focus stays the same: show up, play sharp, and trust the process.

Play sharp. Stack steady.
